In the protected area of Lac Alaotra, the wild birds such as the Angàka, which make the reputation of this region, are victims of hunting and currently threatened with extinction.
Angàka like so many other wild ducks of Lac Alaotra is one of the protected species. In order to prevent these wild birds from being exterminated. The DREDD Alaotra-Mangoro and the Durell Wildlife Conservation Trust Program (DWCT) are the manager of this protected area. They chose to involve local communities.
